I’ve been watching the show ever since the second season, when Mark Cuban joined. There’s times that it can seem ridiculously formulaic (especially those updates that are filled with the most awkward high-fives on television), but it’s also ridiculously enthralling. I just finished watching the 2-hour premiere (spoilers if you haven’t watched it yet) and it left me wanting more. It’s going to go back to an hour next week, and that’s going to stink.
Having two hours of Cuban, Robert Herjavec, Barbara Corcoran (well, an hour), Lori Greiner and Daymond John was great. Over that span, I got to see them act silly, petulant, rude and compassionate. There were pitches that should have been laughed out of the room at the audition stage – I still don’t know why that Amber company even made it there to begin with. The show’s doing amazingly well for such a bad time slot – Friday night where most of the young people are going out.
To celebrate the return of the show, here are drawings I did of them – Daymond was kind enough to sign his over the summer. I’m trying to get the other Sharks to sign their drawings, but I’m finding I’m fighting a big signal-to-noise ratio on Twitter, which is expected with a show like that. Any suggestions?
