Even though the Mets played at noon today and the game ended pretty early, I still had too much on my plate to do before sitting down and drawing. I’m glad I was able to get something finished tonight, though.
Long story short, Mets bounced back from a horrible Dillon Gee outing on Tuesday to thump the Phillies, 11-2. I always get an extra spring in my step when New York beats Philadelphia and especially when they win a series against them.
Daniel Murphy was the one who really broke the game somewhat open with a three-run homer that made it 4-1 early on. That would be all they really needed, since Philly only scored one more run, but I guess it made the other hitters relax. Jeurys Familia, a reliever, even got in on the act, driving in a run late in the game.
There’s an off day tomorrow and then they have San Francisco coming to town. They will miss Tim Lincecum and it looks like Matt Cain may be finished for the year. They do face Madison Bumgarner and Tim Hudson and those are always tough. I do think they can beat Hudson and if they can also jump on Ryan Vogelsong and Jake Peavy, then they could win three of four. Let’s hope.
